SMRT’s intelligent facilities management initiative saves energy at stations
Acceleration of industrialisation and economic blooming has always been perceived as the key elements in driving a country forward. As one of the most industrialised and densely populated countries, Singapore is working hard to make public transportation a sustainable transport system. Rail operators have partnered with the government to reduce energy consumption. One such example is the Intelligent Facilities Management (IFM) launched by SMRT Trains, a leading rail operator in Singapore, to reduce its annual energy consumption at train stations by over 7,000 Megawatt hours (MWh). SMRT has partnered with Envision Digital, a global decarbonisation software leader headquartered in Singapore to launch predictive Artificial Intelligence (AI) system that can adjust the air-conditioning system to maintain an optimal temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius using the right amount of energy.
